Volunteering while on a Christian Date

Volunteering is perhaps one of the most rewarding jobs that anyone can do. Christians can often find that they can volunteer while out on a date. Not only are Christian couples helping others while out on a date, but they can also represent good stewardship for other Christian couples.

The first place that many Christian couples will volunteer at will be within their own church. There are many programs that churches now provide that call for volunteers. There are many nights that are “teen nights” thru the church. Christian teens will often gather together and spend the night at the church, or simply have a night full of fun activities. Volunteers are often always welcomed for such nights, and in many instances, it is the teens themselves that are volunteering for such an occasion. There are also nights in Christian churches where the teens will serve their elders of the congregation. On these nights, Christian teens can turn it into a date night for themselves, as they cater to the elders of their church. They can enjoy the fellowship of the other Christian teens that are in attendance. Afterwards, some teens may go and hang out at a movie together, or even do additional volunteer work for the church.

The church is not the only place that Christians can volunteer at for a date. There are many wonderful non-profit organizations that can always use volunteers. Such organizations, like Habitat for Humanity or the Salvation Army, are always in great demand for additional hands to help out. Making a date night or even a date day into a day filled with assisting others is perhaps one of the best ways that anyone, including Christians, can be of good leadership. Building shelter for those that are less fortunate, or creating boxes of food for those that can not afford it are wonderful ways that Christian couples can have a fulfilling date. As much, the Salvation Army was created on a religious aspect, and to this day, still remains to be one of the most active religious- based organizations that help millions of people all around the world. Volunteering at an animal shelter, such as the Humane Society, is also another way that a Christian date can be redeemed as rewarding. Keeping in mind that animals are also God’s creatures are positive ways of reinforcing the volunteering attitude.

 In the Christian faith, it is often preached that it is best to “do onto others as you would have them do unto you”. There is no better example of this than to volunteer with special activities.  To give one’s time and labor for free is perhaps one of the most selfless gifts that anyone can give.  Creating memories to last a lifetime for not only the Christian couple but for those that they helped is also rewarding. Above all, knowing that the act of volunteering can be passed on from one couple to another is perhaps the best way to spend any time on a Christian date.
